Xiaomi and Huawei want to compete with Apple in the US by 2018

Xiaomi and Huawei are very well known Chinese brands in India. In fact, Xiaomi was crowned the leading smartphone vendor in 50 Indian cities in the third quarter of this year! However, is the scenario same for the other countries? Not really. As is evident, these Chinese brands are not at all popular in countries like the US! Apple has an unparalleled monarchy in the US when it comes to smartphone sales and popularity but recently, it was noticed that the smaller brands like Vivo and Oppo have overpowered the Cupertino Giant in China.

Xiaomi and Huawei are all set to do the same with Apple but the catch is that the plan is to do this in Apple's own country - the US! There is a report by Bloomberg which suggests Apple's monopoly in the US as it has the maximum market share there versus the brand's sale in China, which actually is quite low and clearly shows its waning popularity

The main reason behind Apple's popularity in the US is its tie-ups with network carriers. Huawei has tried to forge an alliance with the carriers to gain a substantial place in the US market but it has not been possible as of now. The report has also mentioned that Blackberry and Huawei are trying to forge a relationship with the network carriers by 2018 so that they can compete with Apple in the US as well. Both of these brands are in talks with Verizon and AT&T but the deal is not confirmed as of now!

 Apple's success in the US is due to its alliance with these network carriers which provide the iPhones at a subsidized price if people buy their plans which are stretched over a couple of months. It would be interesting to see if any deal gets confirmed and Xiaomi and Huawei can do in the US what they did in India!
